Choosing a tutor can be a difficult decision as, even if they possess the right qualifications and experience, they need to be able to communicate effectively with your child and establish and develop a relationship based on mutual respect and understanding.

Here are some of the kind words I've received from several happy parents and students.

Sarah G

Year 5 and Year 8 Parent

"Catherine has been tutoring our two boys (aged 10 and 12) for English since September. Catherine's lessons are exemplary. Catherine is very well prepared and the lesson structure and resources are excellent. Our children look forward to the lessons and enjoy them as Catherine has built up an amazing rapport with them. Our eldest loves English and Catherine has helped him to develop a sophisticated approach to text and challenged him so that he is able to reach the high grades. Our youngest struggles with spelling and, before Catherine, he was struggling with confidence in his writing. One of the major differences I think has been the feedback from his set homework; areas which he can improve are noted constructively and, importantly, Catherine draws attention to all the things that have gone well. Now he always feels confident and very proud of his efforts and keen to work on the next piece. Catherine is a wonderful tutor!"

"Catherine is an excellent teacher who has the ability to tailor the subject to the student's requirements.

Catherine always has a plan of study with clearly laid out short and long-term goals. She is an excellent time keeper and I have no hesitation in recommending Catherine as a tutor."

Felix G

Year 8 Student

"Catherine's lessons are fun and engaging. She always finds the most interesting features of a topic. I learn so much from her lessons and she always makes me laugh. She is the best English teacher I have ever had."

"Catherine is kind and supportive and has a clear idea of the areas that need reinforcing. My daughter is enjoying her lessons."

David R

Year 11 Parent

"Catherine supported my son in preparing for his GCSEs in English Language and Literature. She is patient, engaging and enthusiastic in tutoring. Her knowledge of the subject and the exam requirements was very good. She was pragmatic in her approach, setting realistic homework goals that tied to my son's schoolwork. My son's confidence in these subjects increased massively."

Year 11 Parent

"I can't recommend Catherine highly enough. She worked with our son in the lead up to GCSE's and was very supportive and incredibly encouraging - it was a delight to see his confidence grow each week. We were only sad he couldn't actually sit his exams this year to show off what he could do! Catherine is punctual, very organised, targets the child's specific areas of need, suggests lots of additional ways to support them and is a calm and reassuring presence in what can be a fairly stressful time of year. Thank you, Catherine!"

Graham D

Year 11 Parent

"Catherine is an excellent teacher. She worked with our son who really had no interest in English. Through her perseverance, he turned things around and gained a Grade 5 which was way above expectations.

I can highly recommend Catherine. She is a modern teacher and right up to date with all new methods and exams."
